Lucic is a fine player and definitely better than Purcell. I'm just saying name wise Lucic > Purcell more so than Lucic's production > Purcell's. The Kings are still a fantastic team with Kopitar, Toffoli, Doughty, etc. in the fold.

They're definitely still contenders.

Intimidation in the scrums and momentum changing hits affect the game far more than individual production when evaluating players such as Lucic.

They are insured to play if they don't have a contract. So they are eligible.

Nice post. But not really sure for the heart one you have for bouma is!! Yeah maybe slightly over payed. but come on he had a major injury last year. He is a heart and sole player. blocks a tone of shots,one of the best penalty killers in the league, hits and hustles gives energy to the players and crowed. He was a big reason they made the playoffs. It's not all about goals and assists.

Lance Bouma's brother is a crooked dentist and I suspect Bouma just played hard to cash in and will coast for the rest of his contract.

It's really impossible to judge the Flames at this point knowing very little how Gulutlzan is going to run the team. The goaltending isn't really any better but the Flames will probably not be as risky with their defence next year. So they'll probably give up less goals, but they'll also score less goals. Their only significant upgrade is Brouer. The Flames really need Monahan to step up and be a dominant player for 60+ games if they want to even have a chance at the playoffs.

I was kind of hoping all Oil fans would be butthurt about the Hall trade to this extent.
